This organization was created for a more inclusive community within the field of Natural Resources for underrepresented communities like Latin Americans.

Our Mission

Through education, opportunity, and friendship, Latins for Natural Resources is dedicated to connecting our students and communities with natural resource opportunities and experiences that will promote the diverse use and protection of our public lands.

Our Vision

We envision bridging together people from diverse backgrounds to come together and enjoy the Earth’s Natural Resources by creating an inclusive environment through education and outreach.

Our Team

Wilma Gerena
Advisor
Joined the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2004. She currently is the administrative assistant at the Nebraska Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit housed in the School of Natural Resources. She is a UNL alumna who finds joy in volunteering with organizations like the Civil Air Patrol, assisting to develop youth leadership and emergency services skills. Wilma is a Puerto Rico native who appreciates the "good life" Nebraska offers.

Jazmin Castillo
President

Currently a Masters student within the School of Natural Resources and a National Science Foundation Research Assistant. One of her goals is to get Latinx excited about nature.
​Jazmin is a first-generation college student and first-generation American.

Dillon Hanson
Treasurer

Currently an Undergraduate student within the School of Natural Resources, Dillon is a Fisheries & Wildlife, and Environmental Studies major. One of his goals is to help others connect and find passion in the natural world. Dillon is a first-generation college student.
